The national cultural monument includes the premises of Saint Wenceslas Cathedral, the neighbouring Romanesque Bishop’s Palace, capitular deanery and other buildings.

The Romanesque palace was built in the first half of the 12th century, during the episcopate of Bishop Henry Zdík, who finished the construction of St. Wenceslas church and built his representative seat in its vicinity. Rich in ornamental stonework details, the palace building represents a work of advanced Western-European Romanesque architecture. The Bishop's Palace is the central part of the Přemyslid Castle premises and is featured in the sightseeing circuit of the Archdiocesan Museum.
