The weekend after Easter will belong to the Olomouc cheese festival

The city comes alive with a gastronomic festival. A celebration of a typical dish for Olomouc is about to take place - for the sixth time, the city will be part of the Olomouc cheese festival. It will be held on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16.

A gastronomic festival full of dishes from Olomouc cheeses, complemented by an offer of regional beers and diversified by the sale of handicraft products, has already taken its permanent place in the Olomouc calendar of events. On the first weekend after Easter, the city center will be home to more than four dozen vendors offering gastronomic specialties and more than three dozen stalls with regional products.and Haná brand products – regional product. "It's the largest number of vendors since the beginning of the festival," highlights Karin Vykydalová, head of the department of tourism and culture of the Olomouc municipality. "This year, too, visitors can look forward to a special Cheesecake Shop, where they will be able to purchase various promotional items with a Cheesecake theme, such as special t-shirts, socks, or chocolate pralines with Cheesecake filling," Karin Vykydalová gives a glimpse of the offer.

A rich cultural program will be prepared on both central squares throughout the duration of the festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A cooking show awaits visitors on Horní náměstí. Gastronomic magician Roman Paulus and Czech actress, comedian and singer Sandra Pogodová will present interesting recipes with cheese curds . In addition, dulcimer musicians will perform on the square, on Saturday in the early evening people can look forward to the performance of the Olomouc musician and singer Natália Tichánková with the band 4GOOD, and on Sunday, in addition to cooking on stage and the dulcimer band, the well-known band Mňága and Žďorp will also perform.

On Dolní náměstí there will be a program focused especially on families with children . A theatrical performance by the Tramtarie Theater, a performance by the Music and Drama Studio, a magic show, the Pianothék by Sandra and Richard Pogod or a show by Viky the Clown are guaranteed experiences for them. Child star Matěj Plšek and his band, winner of the Hlas Česka competition, will also perform as part of the Saturday program. On the square, children can also look forward to workshops, sandblasting or face painting.

Cyclists will also have their fair share of fun as part of the festival program. On Saturday, April 15, the Tvarůžková cycle ride will take place . The route will lead from Loštice, the traditional place of their production, to Olomouc. "For those interested, a cycle bus will be sent to Loštice from Olomouc. The cycling partners are AW Loštice, Olomouc riders, Club of Czech tourists. For participants, it is necessary to register and pay the registration fee ," explains Jitka Lučanová, head of the Olomouc Information Center.
