From 7 April to 1 September 1915 she worked in Hranice as a volunteer nurse in the typhoid ward. In the year 1942 she was imprisoned and sent to Auschwitz, where she died. In 1998 she was canonised by Pope John Paul II as St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross and named one of the five patrons of United Europe.
