The heart of the city is the Upper Square, dominated by the Column of the Holy Trinity, a UNESCO monument, and the Gothic-Renaissance Town Hall, from whose tower you can see Olomouc in all its beauty. The town hall clock with its modern mosaic by local native Karel Svolinsky sets the pulse of the town.
There are many important monuments in the centre of the town, as Olomouc was once the seat of the Moravian Premyslids and also of the bishops and later archbishops of Olomouc.T
he historical centre of the town is surrounded by the remains of the Theresian fortifications and beautiful parks with unique greenhouses. The famous Flora flower shows are held here every year.
