The Cycle Route is not about supernatural beings endowed with special powers, but about unfortunate flesh-and-blood beings who have fallen victim to blindness, greed, lust for power and sadistic appetites. It is a silent reminder of the unfortunate history of the towns and villages of Jesenik in the second half of the 17th century, which is linked to the work of the inquisitor Boblig of Edelstadt. By severe torture, the accused women and men were forced to admit their guilt. Several hundred innocent unfortunates ended up at the stake. Their property was confiscated. Even a priest, the dean of Šumperk, Kryštof Lautner, was burned.

To honour their memory, memorials and commemorative plaques were installed in selected places, in addition to existing memorials. Natural beauties Along this educational cycle path, you will see the beautiful landscape of the Jeseníky Mountains alongside the historical lessons and attractions.

The trail is 138 kilometres long and is divided into two parts. The Šumperk part (91 kilometres) starts in Mohelnice and continues to Mírov, Šumperk, Nové Domky, Rapotín, Velké Losiny, Sobotín, Vernířovice and Červenohorské sedlo. The Jeseník section (47 kilometres) starts at Červenohorské sedlo, from where it leads to Domašov, Jeseník, Česká Ves and Zlaté Hory. There are several marked stops along the route with information about the witch trials, usually memorial plaques and monuments.The cycling route is marked with a logo in the form of a witch on a bicycle on the road signs.
