Staré Město

The sophisticated system of infantry logs (bunkers) - the Old Town Fortress Area - in the locality of Staré Město attracts not only with these unique objects, but also with the peaceful nature near the nearby Králický Sněžník.

The Czechoslovak border fortifications, built in 1937-1938 against the aggression of fascist Germany, were among the most sophisticated fortress systems in Europe at the time. The construction of heavy fortifications, consisting of a series of separate infantry logs, massive reinforced concrete buildings with extensive underground spaces, was also started on the most threatened directions, including the Old Town.

Of the planned sixteen logs, only six were completed. Do not miss a tour of the individual fortress buildings. The system consists of the following objects:1. S 30 - "Potok "2. S 31a - "Borek "3. S 31b - "Ozdravovna "4. S 32 - "Krajní "5. S 33 - Forest6. S 34 "Slope"

One of the best ways to explore this system of military buildings is to take a walk along the nature trail Fortress Area of the Old Town

A great tip for active leisure is the nearby Králičák Sports Complex below the top of Štvanice Mountain with the lookout tower called Stříbrná Twiggy.
