Litovelské Pomoraví - the green heart of Haná

Right in the heart of Moravia, between the ancient towns of Olomouc and Mohelnice, lies Litovelské Pomoraví. It is a unique inland river delta with valuable biotopes and tourist attractions that stretches around the arms of the Morava River. In the middle of this unique natural system lies the royal town of Litovel, which gave its name to the whole area.

The Green Heart of Haná Litovelské Pomoraví was declared a protected landscape area in 1990, with a total area of 96 km2. The complex of extensive floodplain forests and meadows is literally unique in the whole of Europe. The area also includes the karst hill of Třesín with the accessible Mladečské Caves, which boasts three highlights: they are probably the oldest, largest and northernmost settlement of modern people (Cro-Magnons) in Europe, who lived here more than 31 thousand years ago.
