National nature reserve Králický Sněžník

You are here:

It is the cradle of the largest Moravian river Morava. The NPR is situated in the central and top part of the eponymous mountain range and in the Staroměstsko area, and covers an area of 1695 ha, and the source of the Morava River is of course not its only attraction.

On the border with Poland is Mount Klepý, an important European watershed of the three seas. It is an area of native forests and peat bogs. The dominant feature of Staroměstsko is Králický Sněžník (1424 m above sea level), on the top of which once stood a lookout tower. The wider surroundings are dominated by a statue of a baby elephant, which enjoys a year-round view of the Hrubý Jeseník, the Orlické Mountains, the Krkonoše Mountains and the Polish Owl Mountains. This is a sight you should not miss.
