The international folklore festival Folk Year is one of the most important cultural events in the region.

The Folk Year is a two-day folklore festival with international participation and a long tradition. The festival is held as part of the year-long cycle of events "Haná Year in Bystřice" and focuses on traditional folk culture. The specificity of the festival is that folklore groups are selected to participate in the festival, which present in their programme folk customs and annual customs of their regions in authentic, stage or stylized form.

The festival includes a traditional fair with demonstrations of folk handicrafts, which takes place on both days in the Castle Square. The festival is traditionally accompanied by exhibitions with folklore themes.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of accompanying programmes: professional concerts, performances by fencers and jugglers, a funfair, sports tournaments, fireworks, etc. The festival is regularly held in the amphitheatre in the Castle Park and in the adjacent Castle Square in early September.
