The Church of St. Moritz is one of the rarest buildings of the late Gothic period in Moravia. The church has undergone many modifications over the centuries. During the 14th and 15th centuries, the church burned down several times and its further construction lasted until the 16th century. In 1412 a 46 m high tower was built, the original purpose of which was probably to warn the inhabitants of the town against fires.
This unique parish church contains the largest organ in Central Europe, constructed by the Wroclav master Michael Engler in the 18th century and the rare late gothic sculptural group of Christ on the Mount of Olives. The church tower provides tourists with a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings.
