The third largest pumped storage hydroelectric power plant in the world and the largest hydroelectric power plant in the Czech Republic. It is a technical marvel not only of the Olomouc region, the Upper and Lower reservoirs, as well as the entire structure underground will amaze you with its ingenuity.

Most of the buildings are located underground, while the buildings on the surface are respectfully integrated into the surrounding nature and form a harmonious whole. At the beginning of the tour, you will see a film in the information centre about the construction of this work and the importance of the Dlouhé stráně VPP for the energy operation in the Czech Republic.

A visit to the part of the power plant that is entered through a long tunnel is an unforgettable experience. The whole complex was built in 1978 and was put into operation 18 years later.

Excursions are always by online reservation only, daily 8.00-15.00.

The Dlouhé stráně Pumped Storage Power Plant will also offer one great innovation during the classic tours - in the form of virtual reality glasses. The goggles will allow visitors to see places that are not normally visited during tours, especially due to their difficult accessibility and potential danger.

A special device can transport you, for example, high above the filled upper reservoir with a view of the peaks of the Jeseníky Mountains, including Praděd. You can also look into the bowels of the water intake, into the machine room of the transformers, you have the opportunity to explore the turbine and the generator and take an imaginary ride in the elevator built in the rock massif.

The virtual tour also includes an animated part with a 3D model that clearly describes the principle of the power plant itself and its significance.

The entire tour is self-guided and includes a few quiz questions. But whether you take them is up to you - in Czech or English languages.

This virtual "Watertour" is available at the Long Slopes Information Centre. However, you must register for the tours in advance on the website www.dlouhe-strane.cz.

Transportation info: Transportation by private cars is not allowed, so it is necessary to use the public transportation provided by the operator, unless visitors are part of an organized group, transported by a provided bus. Cars can be left parked in the free parking lot close to the Helia Sport building (100m).

The transport fee includes the transport of the participants of the excursion within its program by bus (bus stop right in front of the premises) to the parking lot behind the administrative building of PVE DS, then to the lower and upper reservoir and back. Min. number in the group - 15 persons, max. - 50 persons. In the winter months (snow cover), tours of the upper reservoir do not take place.
