Route: Mikulovice - Jeseník - Lipová-lázně- Jeseník - Ramzová - Hanušovice - Mohelnice - Litovel - Olomouc - Dub nad Moravou - Tovačov
The initial part of the Moravian Trail passes through the Jeseníky Mountains and it is clear that you will need to pedal a bit. But this effort is fully balanced by the beauty of the local nature. From Hanušovice, where the cycle route starts to more or less follow the course of the Morava River, you will descend all the way to Mohelnice. After Mohelnice, the cycle path passes through the magical Litovelské Pomoraví, which stretches all the way to Olomouc. From the Haná metropolis, the cycle path heads south and enters the fertile Haná plain, which stretches all the way to Kroměříž. The Haná section is also ideal for less skilled cyclists. The entire length of the Moravian Trail is approximately 295 km, with 178 km passing through the Olomouc Region. In the terrain you can find it under the designation 4. Moravian Trail.
The Moravian Trail offers the possibility of multi-day wandering, which you can also extend with trips along the route. The route can be divided into several stages according to your own needs and condition. And of course, it is possible to complete the route in both directions and thus set different levels of difficulty.
Wild and magical Jeseníky
You are in the Jeseníky Mountains and it is obvious that hills await you. But take it easy - at the start, you can enjoy a little relaxation in two spa towns.
The first is Jeseník, where, in addition to the Priessnitz Spa, you can also visit the unique outdoor balneopark. A little further on is the Schroth Spa in Dolní Lipová, which we definitely recommend visiting. Further on, you will pass through the beautiful parts of the Jeseníky Mountains via Ramzová, Ostružná and Branná, where the Kolštějn Castle should not escape your attention. The hilly terrain stretches almost all the way to Hanušovice and from there you will have a gradual descent, where the route runs along the Morava River. And before you leave the Jeseníky tourist area, there is another spa in Bludov, where you will find the amazing Praděd Children's Museum.
The rich and picturesque Haná
Thanks to its gentle profile, the Haná section of the Moravian Trail is ideal for less fit cyclists. In its first part, you will pass through the picturesque landscape made up of the untouched floodplain forests of Litovelsko Pomoraví and you should not miss several interesting places. You will ride through the romantic Nové Zámky area, where you will find the Liechtenstein hunting lodge or unusual small stone buildings in the countryside. Another interesting tip is the Mladečké Caves. And then you will find the town of Litovel, which is nicknamed the Venice of Haná thanks to the countless Morava River branches that flow through the town. And of course it is also known for Litovel beer. Another tip for a stop is the Haná Museum in Nature in Příkaze.
And then the trail heads to Olomouc, which boasts a plethora of sights including a UNESCO World Heritage Site - you certainly won't go wrong if you set aside more time to explore the city. From Olomouc, the route turns south and plunges into the fertile plain of Haná, from which the Tovačov Ponds and lakes emerge like an oasis, above which rises the Spanila Tower, which dominates the Tovačov Castle.
From here you will drive through Chropyně to Kroměříž, the splendid residence of the bishops and archbishops of Olomouc.
Cyclotips
The Moravian Trail crosses in Olomouc with another long-distance cycle route, the Amber Trail, and in Tovačov with the Bečva Cycle Path. The route also intersects several times (in Jeseník, Postřelmov and Mohelnice) with the thematic Witches' Cycle Route. In the vicinity of Mohelnice, the Moravian Trail also meets the Taste Moravia on a Bike cycle route several times. For trail lovers, we recommend the Lipovské trails near Lipová-lázně.
Summer tips
To refresh yourself along the way, you can use the Moravičanské jezero near Mohelnice, the Náklo sandpit, and the Poděbrady natural swimming pool near Olomouc.
